I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed Java and MKV show TWO "Main Features" of the exact same movie in Men In Black International?

These two versions are the same length.

I've only had time to look at the first version of the film, but the first "Main Feature" appears to be identical to the movie.

I'm not sure if the file labeled as "Main Feature 2" is the same or different in some way.

Any thoughts or advice from anyone would be appreciated.

the ol' powerdvd/procmon snooping shows the first main feature (402.mpls) as the proper one.

There's a difference in the segment map in the middle.

Feature 1: Segment map: 1,382,383,384,385
Feature 2: Segment map: 1,382,386,384,385

Having not seen the movie yet, I would guess that the scene has international/foreign signage in one version and english signage in the other. That tends to be one of the usual differences between nearly identical titles. There's "something" different, for sure. 383 and 386 are very close in file size, but not identical.

Make a decrypted backup and view rhe stream files 00383.m2ts and 00386.m2ts to find it out ...

The difference is the images that show up on the monitor.

00402.mpls is the one you want.
00406.mpls uses the alternate imagery.

I do not see either one labeled as 00402.mpls or 00406.mpls.

I played both version simultaneously and literally watched them on two different windows simultaneously. I did not find a difference in the two versions.

If anyone can tell me which version is the "correct" version and another way to identify it - possibly based on the title ended with ".mkv" I would be thankful.

My disc does not seem to have files labeled as "00383.m2ts" or "00386.m2ts".

I watched the two versions simultaneously on two different windows simultaneously and did not notice any differences.

There must be some form of brief difference, though. ... If anyone can let me know what that difference is and when it occurs and let me know which version is correct, I would be thankful.

Grauhaar, I no longer have the disc. I did back up both versions of the disc. Is there any chance you might be able to find the difference in the movie and tell me "what" that difference is and "when" the difference occurs, so then I can find it and determine which file is the one to keep. Thank you for your help.

Anyone ever figure this out? I have two different mpls options of identical length with one difference in the segment map...

Can't say for sure in this case, but a lot of times there's an alternate language version included. Say, one where all the background signage or displays use Spanish instead of English. I've ripped the wrong one before and this was usually the result.

The solution to find it out is in the thread. Make a backup and view the two different stream segments to determine which mpls should be the right. Easy to solve

^ that's not easy. My disc has 8 (eight!) files. I've made a MKV of each and now trying to figure out which one is correct. Huge pain in the backside

Did anybody ever resolve this? I have 8 files as well and am struggling to see what differentiates them.

I'm just about to rip this movie (the 4K version) and I also see 8 versions. They're all the same length, but they refer to different segments:

I think I'll just go with the first one, that is t01 aka 00252.mpls.

Eh, I wish those studios would include a convenient TXT file with ripping instructions or add some "Rip this one" metadata to those files

I figured it out. I made a backup and watched all 4 .m2ts files (338, 342, 343 and 343) which are short 21 second scenes where the agent enters an area and she looks at a screen/monitor. In each file, there's different content on the monitor - the first one shows Elon Musk, the second one shows Piers Morgan and the third and fourth some female models I can't identify (maybe some local international celebrities).

This doesn't seem to affect the plot or dialogue in any way because there's no sound coming from that screen so technically it doesn't matter which one you get. I'm just guessing the first one with Elon Musk is aimed at the US audience, Piers Morgan is aimed at the UK and the other two are shown in other countries.

BTW, I'm talking about the UHD version which has 8 separate playlists, but I suspect this will also apply to the regular FHD Blu-ray.
