Segment count: 19
Segment map: 518,512,514,510,515,506,520,511,516,505,501,504,502,519,507,508,509,503,517

The disc loads with source file name: 00434.mpls listed as the main feature

Code: Select all

John Wick 3: Parabellum - 16 chapter(s) , 32.0 GB (FPL_MainFeature)
Title information
Name: John Wick 3: Parabellum
Comment: FPL_MainFeature
Source file name: 00434.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 514,502,517,506,505,511,508,516,519,503,520,512,510,504,507,518,509,515,501
File name: John Wick 3- Parabellum-FPL_MainFeature_t00.mkv
However, I went through the disc line by line to find the correct segment map, and found 965 to be correct.

Code: Select all

Title information
Name: John Wick 3: Parabellum
Source file name: 00965.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 514,506,517,502,505,511,508,516,519,503,520,512,510,507,504,518,509,515,501
File name: John Wick 3- Parabellum_t380.mkv
I'm not sure why 00434.mpls was tagged as the main feature...
Hopefully this helps those looking for the non-retail version.

Cheers,
-Chris
Thank you for this. When not using Java, 965 exists, but it was not full length. When using Java, 965 no longer exists.

With Java I used the 434, can confirm it works as I rewatched it again and it didn't mess up anywhere (like in the library as some reported). It did not say "File name: John Wick 3- Parabellum-FPL_MainFeature_t00.mkv", mine said t180. There seems to be several versions of non retail.

When Java finds a candidate for "main feature", it is moved to the top of the list.

Yep thats the encryption working against you ...make sure you are on latest java install and make mkv version ... I see 965.mpls
Seriously doubt that. From process monitor the segment map from the disc I have is 510,511,502,505,512,501,519,516,508,514,507,515,518,503,509,504,520,517,506 and matches up to 00429.mpls. Gotta wonder if they are now sending out RB discs with different obfuscation. But btw I do have latest versions of both....
Missed your post, at first, but looks like there were different versions for RB. When I checked your process range of 510 to 506, 00429.mpls was the one. THX

Both "main" using java and BDinfo had misplaced segments that had me returning to this site a few times. Hope Mike gets the java detection running right.

I noticed on my old slyfox site, it took three "versions" to get it right with countless repeats of "no work".

Some movies, I want to add to my collections. Others, I wait until they are on a rental service, like Red Box. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is exactly in this category. If I wat to add a movie to my collection, I buy it; I own around 400 Blu-Ray discs. I have two different pieces of software for playing Blu-Ray discs on my laptop; I no longer use a stand-alone Blu-ray player anymore after my last one died. Anyway, I've rented this disc from Red Box and bring it home. Cyberlink PowerDVD came up with a black screen and un-able to open the disc. I then try AnyMP4, it reports it as a bad disk. I open it up on MakeMKV, which is what I use to rip movies I actually purchase and see a plethora of possibilities. I'm not sure if PC software not reading Red Box movies is a move for anti-piracy or what, but it is necessitating me to rip a movie I would not normally do so with. I'm not exactly sure if the version I'm ripping is correct but I'll find out in a bit. If this is an anti-piracy ploy, it has backfired.

I've just received my copy from Amazon in the UK. Having the same problems, but it doesn't look like any of the posted responses will match my situation: all my tracks start with segment 505.

I tried using BDInfo, but it didn't really seem to get me anywhere. I can't seem to open it with VLC as the keydb.cfg I have doesn't have parabellum in the list, and I don't have any BD player software on this machine (well, I have a free one but it just hangs).

If someone can point me towards the aac key I need for parabellum, I'm happy to try running it through VLC/procmon to find the segment map for this particular disc, unless someone has already done the hard work.

For reference, this is the version marked as FPL_MainFeature on this disc:
Title information
Name: John Wick 3: Parabellum (English)
Comment: FPL_MainFeature
Source file name: 00441.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 505,512,514,502,517,508,501,506,509,503,518,507,520,519,510,511,515,504,516
File name: John Wick 3- Parabellum-FPL_MainFeature_t01.mkv
EDIT: Found this post that got VLC working on the disc for me (after some java troubles to get the menu working). Currently collating the file usages from procmon to work out the segment map. Will update in a bit

I purchased my copy from Amazon 4K UltraHD. The Bluray MPLS and Segments that I could see where not any of the one's people posted. So I stepped through the disc and played each segment in the 500 range. Here is what I came up with.

MPLS is 957

Segments are as follows:
518, 512, 514, 510, 515, 506, 520, 511, 516, 505, 501, 504, 502, 519, 507, 508, 509, 503, 517

I hope this help some of you

It took a few runs with VLC/Procmon for me to get something sensible, but I finally managed to get a sequence that looked like this:
505,514,512,502,517,501,506,508,509,503,518,507,510,519,520,511,504,515
which matches 696.mpls on the UK Amazon Blu-Ray (+ Digital) release.
Title information
Name: John Wick 3: Parabellum (English)
Source file name: 00696.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 505,514,512,502,517,501,506,508,509,503,518,507,510,519,520,511,504,515,516

I have the UK Zavvi exclusive 4K + BD version, DVD-Fab reckons 696.mpls

Title information
Name: John Wick 3: Parabellum
Source file name: 00696.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 505,514,512,502,517,501,506,508,509,503,518,507,510,519,520,511,504,515,516
File name: John Wick 3- Parabellum_t258.mkv

Ripping now, but not seen the film before to be able to tell if it's in the right order!

Yes, BDinfo chose this:
Title information
Name: John Wick 3: Parabellum (English)
Source file name: 00298.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 510,511,502,505,512,515,514,504,516,509,519,503,508,507,517,501,520,518,506
File name: John Wick 3- Parabellum_t134.mkv

I originally posted wrong BDinfo segments for 298.mpls

After time to view, both the main and BDinfo versions wacked with out of place segments. Sorry to waste anyone's time...

The "_t134" in the file name can change, depending on what the minimum length to rip is set to. The important thing is the match the "Source file name:" value in selecting.

Well, that is what the screen shows, i.e., source file name 00298.mpls, file name: title_t124.mkv, yet the resulting stream has issues (scenes are all messed up and make no chronological sense). The disc was rented at RB yesterday so something must have changed already.

Title information
Source file name: 00298.mpls
Duration: 2:10:45
Chapters count: 16
Size: 32.0 GB
Segment count: 19
Segment map: 510,511,502,505,512,515,514,504,516,509,519,503,508,507,517,501,520,518,506

I want to confirm that the correct play list file of one redbox BluRay is 00965.mpls
The 000434.mpls which flagged as title00 for this disc is not correct.

00965: 514 506 517 502 505 511 508 516 519 503 520 512 510 507 504 518 509 515 501
00434: 514 502 517 506 505 511 508 516 519 503 520 512 510 504 507 518 509 515 501

There are two short sections swapped in the 00434.mpls
I also did confirm by watching the movie at the time calculated from the mpls file.
Hopefully this helps those looking for the right play list file. :D

The information you provided matches the Redbox version of John Wick 3 I obtained. Initially, MakeMKV labeled the "Main Feature" as 00434.mpls and it was listed as t_08. But, this was definitely wrong. For example, around 1 Hour 3 Minutes into the movie there are scenes out of place in the desert scene where the dogs are being provided with food and John Wick pokes his thumb to obtain blood. The numbers you mentioned for 00434 matched the version of my 00434 exactly the same.

I then tried 00965. The numbers on my copy lined up in the exact same way in 00965. It is listed as t392. I only had about 20 minutes, but I went from scene to scene and confirmed each scene was in order and playing the scenes correctly. It seems as though t392 with 00965 is the correct one to choose in this copy with Redbox.

I have to say I'm disappointed Java can choose the wrong version with MakeMKV like that.

When looking into the MPLS listing while playing the disc under PowerDVD, I can see 00429.mpls as being used (t186.mkv). I am ~20 minutes away from confirming whether it is the right stream of not. I wish there was a way to create some sort of a disc fingerprint to know what version we're dealing with. Otherwise, it seems like a shot in the dark.
