I am now on MakeMKV 1.6.0. The rip produces a Users\Lindsey\MakeMKV_log.txt file on 3800Client, a Vista (64-bit) computer, after I woke up and changed the MakeMKV preferences to require it. The log file is the first attachment.
The rip produced 6 output title files none of which was the feature title. I played each title file on MediaClient (Win 7 64-bit) using VLC 1.1.4. Those title files that I thought would include audio tracks did produce sound. The others were silent. A snip of the directory \\MediaServer\MyMovies\HD-DVD MKVs\King Kong\ is the second attachment.

002003:0000 Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:FOCUS SERVO FAILURE' occurred while reading '/HVDVD_TS/FEATURE_1.EVO' at offset '1805690880'
This is indicative of a reader/drive failure - usually related to the drive motor and/or lens.
BTW - I just used v.1.6.0 to re-rip my "King Kong" HD-DVD. As you can see, it was done without error:
MakeMKV v1.6.0 win(x64-release) started

Setarip_old,
Because of your reply, I dragged out my old XBox 360 HD-DVD Player and hooked it up to 3800Client (Vista 64-bit) to use in place of the LG GGCH20L that is currently 3800Client's ODD that failed in my attempt to rip HD-DVD King Kong. I had just about forgotten that I still had the XBox Player, bought back in 2007, but you reminded me of it. It was covered with dust way back in my pile of boxes. After I got it out, cleaned it up and connected it to 3800Client it took two passes to rip King Kong correctly, but I was successful in the end. I have attached the rip log file and a snip of the HD-DVD King Kong rip directory.
As you pointed out, my LG GGCH20L is probably dieing. It would be nice to finish up the ripping of my HD-DVD collection so I could get a new Blu-ray reader ODD for 3800Client and be done with HD-DVD forever, even though I have always thought that the HD-DVD experience is superior to Blu-ray. After I hooked up the XBox 360 Player, I also tried to rip the other HD-DVDs that I had not successfully ripped before. These were Unforgiven, Rio Bravo and Top Gun. I was successful with Unforgiven using the XBox Player and MakeMKV 1.6.0, but not Rio Bravo or Top Gun.
Anyway, thanks for the reply.
