I have an inbound Blu-Ray from England in about 12 weeks that is labeled "Region B/2". To date every Blu I've imported has been region free, and I haven't had to think about that.
I believe I read somewhere on these forums that MakeMKV ignores that, and will rip the data from that disc anyway even if I can't play it. Is that correct?
If I can't do that, then the disc would be pointless, and I'd need to look into canceling the pre-order for the thing.
(For the record, it's the Red Dwarf Series 1-8 Blu-Ray Set).
Danke.

Re: Region B/2 Blu-Ray Discs
MakeMKV does not care about region coding. I read "out of region" DVDs and BDs on a semi-regular basis.
The resulting video plays fine; MKV files don't have region coding in them.
On BD rips, you will probably find a number of "extras" that contain video that says "This video is not intended to be played in your region". That is the extent to the region "coding" that you might see.

Re: Region B/2 Blu-Ray Discs
Thanks, dude.
I thought that was the case, but I wasn't sure. Figured I'd ask.
