Hello,

For some reason I cannot get the Blu Ray of the film Thomas and Friends Tale of the Brave to rip. I am new to the forum, but not to ripping (though I am a click it and it works guy.) I've never had an issue with a BD before.

I would truly appreciate any help. Thanks!

There are a few things that can cause this. Fingerprints and even the chemical "film" left over from the suction cups on the machines that load disks into their carriers can interfere with the laser to get the "cannot read medium" error. This is especially likely if multiple attempts come up with the error in approximately (plus or minus a few sectors). A simple cleaning usually takes care of the blurring, but any scratches or cracks are harder to deal with.

In your case, the system was able to move past the first errors with retries; it MAY help to increase the number of retries (Preferences->IO menu). But cleaning comes first, especially with any disks that have been handled by a child or someone under the influence of a child (sticky fingers ).

Thank you so much. Cleaning the disc and upping the errors worked perfectly. I thought the disc was clean, but apparently not.
