Re: auro-3d question

For me it works,

I ripped the Red Tails Blu Ray and then created a .mkv file, it has following audio streams,

48 kHz, 24 bits, 8 channels, DTS-HD MasterAudio
48 kHz, 24 bits, 6 channels, DTS
48 kHz, 24 bits, 6 channels, PCM (little/signed)

during converting the rip to mkv, you must select all the audio streams.

The Auro 3D 11.1 is coded in the PCM stream on the Blu Ray disc.

When I play

- the Disc with Blu Ray player PCM output enabled

or

- the .mkv with MPC-HC from my HTPC over Nvidia High definition HDMI (PCM stream enabled)

the Denon AVR X6300H shows "Auro 3D", Front Display : 5.1 channel + the Height channels

For MPC-HC you must configure:

MPC-HC menu > Play > Filters > LAV Audio Decoder > disable "Fallback to PCM"

MPC-HC options > Internal Audio Renderer > Device

DirectSound: DENON-AVRHD (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)

K-Lite codec pack:

Codec Tweak Tool > Audio Output > Keep existing settings and enable bitstreaming over HDMI

Auro 3D Octupus Codec:

The height information, captured in recording or created during the mixing process, is mixed into a standard 5.1 PCM stream
using Auro-3D Octopus codec.

Any device that contains the Auro-Codec Decoder will be capable of decoding the original Auro-3D mix,
which will conveniently playback on any Auro-3D compatible speaker system (Auro 9.1/Auro 10.1/Auro 11.1 etc.).

Devices without the Auro-Codec Decoder will produce the original 5.1 PCM mix without any loss in sound quality.
