Error 'Scsi error - NOT READY:LOGICAL UNIT IS IN PROCESS OF BECOMING READY' occurred while reading '/AACS/Content001.cer' at offset '0'
Hmmm... I've not seen that error before.

A google search comes up with a variety of reasons for this to show up in Windows and VMWare, but fewer for OS X. If this is a USB drive, I'd suggest unplugging it and replugging it, so OS X reconnects.

That part of the error is transient, it happens with some disks and not other. I suspect some soft timeout or similar. In any case, I am in the middle of backing up my Blur-Rays, and most work, but a couple don't, which I am listing here.

By the way, when a disk fails, I will usually try to eject it, copy something else, and so on, and then return to it. There was actually a full reboot of my machine in between as well. The disks I am listing here are the ones which persistently fail to copy.

Another disk which fails is Lost Season 5 Disc 3. Barcode 8 717418 218119. Log:

I can read the disc with other apps, this transient error only happens in MakeMKV. Could it be that the drive just takes a little too long to read some sector, and then hits some timeout in the app? Could you make it more tolerant to that?

In Preferences->IO, you can change the number of retries MakeMKV will make when trying to read data; it can sometimes help when the operating system gives up too soon.

Thanks, I will try that. Does the log tell you that this is the problem, or might there be another reason for the failure? Ultimately I might try buying another drive, but obviously I would prefer to avoid this expenditure. Is there a recommended drive? I currently use a Samsung.

If the log does say what's going on, it's in those debug messages, and only Mike can translate what they mean.

I have increased the timeout, and now several of the discs are going through...

All my discs ripped now. Since there is no performance penalty to this setting, you may want to consider setting a higher default. I changed it from 5 to 20.
