Z Nation Season 2 errors

Post by sfenwick »

This is for the UK Blu-rays. All of the episodes start about 1m30s too early (showing a test pattern), and end the same too soon (cut off).

Not a lot of information to work from... Do you have the scan portion of the debug log that you can post?

I have a similar issue with the season 2 discs from the complete series set released in the UK. The episodes similarly start about 1:30 too early, but, rather than being cut off at the end, it goes on for several minutes past the end of the episode and includes some textless material from the episode for some reason. I also noticed that the produced MKVs don't include chapters, but, when I play the episodes from the disc, they definitely do have chapters. I'm not too worried about the chapters, and trimming off the extra bits is easy enough with mkvmerge, but I noticed when identifying the timestamps for the start and end of the actual episode that the episode runs longer in the MKV than from the disc. I haven't done this for every episode yet, but the two I have were both about 40 seconds longer. I haven't watched the whole episodes to confirm, but it seems like the MKV is slowed down slightly, as the difference in timestamps seems to get larger towards the end of the episode.

I also had a similar issue with the UK Blu-ray release of season 1 of The Good Place (also from Dazzler Media). I can't remember if there was anything extra at the end of the episodes, but there definitely was at the beginning, on at least some of the episodes. I never got around to trimming off the extra parts, so I don't know if those files ran long as well, and I only ever ripped the first season before getting the complete series set released in the US (which didn't have the same issue on any seasons), so I don't know if any of the other seasons' UK releases have this issue.

Late to the game here but just picked up the UK blu-ray set and having the same problem with season 2 as well as episode 10 of season 5. Is there any solution to this issue? Thanks!
