Hello Everyone,

I was ripping the new X-Files season 3 on Blu-ray and it appears there are the same episodes twice on each disc. Can anyone confirm or tell me which ones are the correct ones?

Order:
s03e01
s03e02
s03e03
s03e04
s03e01
s03e02
s03e03
s03e04

Thanks

They're all correct. For some reason some seasons of some shows have duplicate episodes, some with the western language/subtitle options and another with the Japanese subtitle options. Not sure why that is. You probably want the ones that don't have the Japanese subs -- probably the first batch, not the second.

I've seen it with films as well.

Both are completely identical but they are separated in MakeMkv as you say one with English + multiple western subs the other with English + Japanese subs only.

I am yet to discover the difference.

I downloaded S3-D1 in order to look at what was going on. First off, no disc ever has more than one of anything. That would be a total waste of space. The differences are handled, for the most part, by playlists.

The four episodes are M2TS files: 2436, 2437, 2362 and 2363 I do not know the order.
The following play lists handle the M2TS files:

Code: Select all

500 800 801 850 851 - 2436
501 802 803 852 853 - 2437
502 804 805 854 855 - 2362
503 806 807 856 857 - 2363
I have no clue as to why there are 5 play lists for each episode. Each of the episodes have all of the languages and subtitles.

I have a WAG. It is possible the playlists are for different country releases, whereby only certain languages, and/or subtitles, are enabled to be selected. The differences would be handled by a different menu for the particluar release, which would call the appropriate play list. Like I said, a WAG.

Info gleamed by using the BDEdit program.
