Locked (Movie) Blu-ray fails to decrypt (rip)

Post by patrick » Sat Dec 06, 2025 3:25 am

The Film "Locked" (Blu-Ray) fails to Decrypt succesfully as it uses a newer version of AACS protection (AACS v82) even using my Asus Libredrive (BW-16D1HT Disk drive) (Un-patched firmware - v3.01)

I let you guys know also by visting your attached link on the Make MKV program.

Make MKV program stated : that the volume key is unknown for this disk - video cant be decrypted. I look foward to the issue to be fully resolved, Thx Guys

Note - I have ripped over 600+ Blu-ray Movies & over 60 + T.V series Boxsets to MKV Files using this Make MKV program & this is the first real issue i have come across. Keep up the great work to all the guys behind Make MKV. software.
Please Support Make MKV & fully register your trial software for a small cost like i have. :)

At the moment, MakeMKV does not natively support AACS v82 blu-rays. You should email those dumps to svq@makemkv.com so a key can be created for MakeMKV's built in hashed key mechanism. A few days after emailing the dump, try the disc again and if a key is available, MakeMKV will download it automatically in the background.

There is a separate second decryption mechanism that MakeMKV supports, the public KeyDB. To contribute to the public KeyDB, use the template and follow the instructions in the first post in the Public KeyDB Disc Submissions thread.

Hi, Yeah i already foward the disk details onto MakeMKV using there highlighted link within thier program. So why do i need to forward on the additional Dump Files into the appropriate link ?
Also how do i see these actual "Dump Files" (location & what exactly do i need from them & what to do with them ?)
Only asking as i have never access these things before. Thanks in advance.

At the moment, AACS v82 works more like a 4K UHD blu-ray than a regular blu-ray. As such, decryption keys need to be generated for each AACS v82 title just like 4K UHDs. When MakeMKV encounters a disc it can't download a hashed key for, it automatically generates a .tgz dump file. There's a message in the log that includes the location where the dump file was saved. MakeMKV's preferences also have the location of the MakeMKV data directory, which is where those files will be saved.

You don't need to do anything with the dump files. Just attach one to an email and send it to svq@makemkv.com. The UHD FAQ has more details if you want to read more.
