Ripped MKV loses video halfway through...

Post by alexcutter » Thu Aug 18, 2011 1:02 pm

Hi all,

I just ripped a MKV from an unprotected BRD, and when I watch it using Quicktime (X and 7.66), the video drops out about halfway through. The audio continues to play. I've attempted the rip several times, with the same result.

The file plays perfectly using VLC.

Any suggestions? I need to bring the footage into Final Cut Pro to do some edits. I tried converting the MKV to quicktime through iSkysoft iMedia Converter, and while the process yields all video and audio, it seems to be interlacing the footage.

I'm using the 2010 iMac, with the latest version of Snow Leopard.

Thanks!

You can demux MKV to elementary streams with a number of freeware tools (mkvtoolnix is the first choice) and import that way to final cut.

I brought the ripped file into AfterEffects, and exported to Quicktime from there.

Any idea what the issue was with your software?

thx

If VLC played it fine, the issue isn't necessarily a MakeMKV issue. Could very well be a Perian issue.
