In-video text being removed
In-video text being removed
The series I am ripping (Grimm) has a quote in large white text at the start of every episode. Most of the episodes place the quote over moving video, but several of the episodes just show the quote over a completely black background. When I rip these episodes, the quote is removed from the video and instead put in a separate subtitle track. I believe MakeMKV may be interpreting the quote as a hard-coded subtitle and automatically removing it. Is there some setting that can prevent it from doing this? Or is this another issue entirely?
Re: In-video text being removed
MakeMKV cannot remove hard-coded subtitles, or make any other changes to the image.
Handbrake will burn the subtitles into the image, at the cost of a little processing time.

Re: In-video text being removed
Yeah this was totally operator error on my part. Turns out, Season 4 of the box set was burned differently from the rest of the series and all the subs that should have been hardsubbed were instead put into a PGSSUB track. Ended up re-encoding with ffmpeg to burnin the track.
