Hi
I'm having issues ripping this disc. I've had a go at searching the forum, but can't see anyone else having difficulties with this title. I'm getting these errors reported:
Code: Select all
Saving 1 titles into directory /home/chris/Videos/AstroBoy
DEBUG: Code 0 at UwK&#[Rz49sdU4:29398967
DEBUG: Code 0 at 0XV.|[W~,M`/sg+id$*%:29397518

DEBUG: Code 0 at hROJ4/#{6&Lf" +g#C:QK:29397449
LIBMKV_TRACE: Exception: Error while reading input
Failed to save title 0 to file /home/chris/Videos/AstroBoy/title00.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed
Is it likely to be the disc itself? I can't see any marks or or defects on the disc itself, though that's only my naked eye. What are these error codes telling me?
Thanks

The log indicates a corrupted video stream. Can you try making a full disc backup first and see if any errors show up?

HI Mike,
If you mean by "full disc backup first" I rip everything off the disc using makemkv - done that. Still throws a hissy fit at the same place.
If you mean something else, could you elaborate?
Many thanks
Chris

Doh. I see what you mean now. Am in process of backing up "as is"

Right, I've managed to successfully backup the disk twice - once with and once without protection.
I tried to run makemkv on the backup with protection and it failed.
I'm next going to run makemkv on the protection removed backup. I'll let you know how that goes.

Well, still didn't work. The with and without protection backups both fail with the same error code.
Code: Select all
DEBUG: Code 0 at UwK&#[Rz49sdU4:29398967
DEBUG: Code 0 at 0XV.|[W~,M`/sg+id$*%:29397518
DEBUG: Code 0 at hROJ4/#{6&Lf" +g#C:QK:29397449

DEBUG: Code 0 at hROJ4/#{6&Lf" +g#C:QK:29397449

This came from the backup without protection.
A bad disk?
Oh and from the debug log:

The video stream on disc is corrupted, but the disc has no physical defects. It means that this disc has a mastering error. Please provide exact title and region for this disc.

Hi Mike,
It's the UK release of AstroBoy and it was on BluRay a disc, which is Region B I believe.
I "borrowed" it from a friend and have now returned it, so can't help much beyond that, so if you wanted any further information I've got the backups.

@tophee
Is the disc you borrowed from your friend an original, commercial Blu-ray disc or a backup copy?

Hi,
It was a commercial, original blu-ray disc. Though I now have an unencrypted and encrypted backup.

Hi,
I have the very same problem on Astro Boy.
I don't think it can be a faulty disk, it must be an issue with MakeMKV ?

Please reproduce the problem with 1.6.5 and debug log enabled, and then send the FULL debug log file to
support@makemkv.com . A lot of debug output was added to 1.6.5 specifically to catch this problem.
