Venom playlist

Post by tron999 » Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:00 am

Has anyone figured it out yet? 00001, and 357 have the same runtime.

Looks like 357 is the correct one.

Anyone having issues opening this disc? I can backup the disc and decrypt, but trying to open it just crashes MakeMKV with fatal error. Even after decrypting and trying to open the backup folder. Exact same issue on Searching (2018).
Have to backup and then use MKVToolNixGui to make a MKV. Pretty sure I could watch the disc directly with VLC using MakeMKV to do the decrypting, but not this time.

MKV 1.14.2 and 1.14.1 on Debian 4.15.0.39, JRE 1.8.0.191

I have the same issue with Venom BD - "Gives Fatal error - will exit" error message. I do not understand the potential fixes some of the forum users have posted. I’m running Linux Mint and just installed current version of MKV. I have some basic knowledge of installing apps in Linux. Can someone give me a better explanation of what might be causing this error and how to fix it?

Venom BD - "Gives Fatal error - will exit"

Same problem here, also running Linux.
If I do a backup, I will get a message saying something about (paraphrased) "ignoring PS3 specific file".
Perhaps this is a problem for Linux users only.

It seems to be a Linux issue. I tried multiple times with my Linux media server and then downloaded and installed MakeMKV on my Windows machine and was able to open the Venom blu-ray without issue.

I've seen this error before, it's usually Java crashing. I've worked around it (on Linux Mint) by temporarily renaming the java executable. Try

Code: Select all

sudo mv /usr/bin/java /usr/bin/java.save
and then rip. Once done don't forget to

Code: Select all

sudo mv /usr/bin/java.save /usr/bin/java

I had the exact same problem with this disc (Venom BD) on Debian 9 using Java 8.

@bmillham, your tip worked great, I didn't notice that Java was crashing it.

In my case, I had to rename /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java.

/usr/bin/java is just a link to /etc/alternatives/java, which is itself a link to /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java.

Disabling Java allowed the disc to open and rip.

Has anyone had this problem with any other BDs and Java?

Thank you for your help. My java was also located in /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk/bin/java and temporary renaming it worked for me. It's strange that it had never happened before and I only got the error message with Venom.

New to makemkv. Just got an ASUS blu-ray ripper with makemkv software installed, and tried ripping my son's favorite blu-ray movie, Venom. 357 scans as the Main Feature. It has visual description for the visually impaired, and several screen glitches around the 1 minute 52 second mark, and others.

Title 00001.mpls is equal to title 00355.mpls and was skipped

Title 00355.mpls is equal to title 00357.mpls and was skipped

How do I not skip Titles 00001.mpls and 00355.mpls, so that I can consider them as the Main Feature?

Never mind. Saved a Decrypted Backup, then used Handbrake to make the .00001.m2ts file (in BDMV\STREAM) the source -> no visual glitches and no visual description. Good times.
