Trolls (2016) Blu-Ray Title and Segment Map

Post by kplsc » Sun Feb 26, 2017 3:15 am

The movie Trolls was not on the site. I thought others might want to know the correct title to encode.

Chapters count: 24

I ran this through process monitor before I came here and it is showing the 801.mpls. Funny thing is there is no 801 when I open it, anyone ever experience that before?

I'll be using the 850, thank you!

801 is equal to 850 and makemkv skipped it.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but how did you determine that? Looking for a new methodology if the ProcMon/PowerDVD isn't going to work anymore.

Procmon and Power DVD give the 801 and if you check the log on makemkv it gives you the 801 is the same as 850 and the program skip the 801, both are the same.

So far as I can tell there were 3 playlists to choose from. So I ripped all three.

They look identical. I opened up each one and played them side by side at each chapter marker. I did find one thing that was different... on one of the files there were no subtitles at about the 43 minute mark.

So when I ran this disc through the PowerDVD/Procmon process (which has always worked), here is what I got for a segment map:

600,601,602,603,604,605,606,607,608,609,610,611,612,613,614,615,615,618,616,619,620,626,627,617,618,621,622,623,624,625,628,629,630,631,632,633,634,639,635,640,636,641,637,638,642,643,644,645,646,647,648,649,650,652,653,654,655,651,651,656,657,658,659,659,659

Obviously that is odd, and of course you can see there are several instances (like 615, 651, 659) where there are duplicates which makes no sense. According to other posters, the correct map should be:

600,601,602,603,604,605,606,607,608,609,610,611,612,613,614,615,616,617,618,619,620,621,622,623,624,625,626,627,628,629,630,631,632,633,634,635,636,637,638,639,640,641,642,643,644,645,646,647,648,649,650,651,652,653,654,655,656,657,658,659

So what gives? This is obviously some kind of new way of obfuscating the correct track. If that is indeed the correct track, we can probably safely ignore duplicates in a row, but as you can see in the procmon output, after 615 there should be 618 (and 616 comes after 618), but the correct track goes from 615 to 616 then 618. So there's dupes as well as it being in a different order. The correct track is in full sequential order. How do we determine the correct track from this, or what is the pattern to avoid this in the future? I'm using the newest version of PowerDVD if that makes a difference. Is PowerDVD just randomly accessing video stream files to throw us off on purpose now like it was doing with the playlists previously?
