Help - Trying to Rip Star Trek The Original Series Blue Ray

#1 Post by SoCalChip » Sat May 03, 2014 5:21 am

Hi,

I purchased Star Trek TOS Season 2 on BluRay. I would like to rip the episodes into mp4 files with the highest possible quality. I first created MKV files using MakeMKV 1.8.9. Then I used Handbrake 0.9.9.5530 to create the mp4 files.

The problem is I have tried different settings on HandBrake and no matter what I do, the resulting image looks less than DVD quality. When I watch the BR on my TV the Picture Quality is much higher. The Handbrake mp4s almost look like VHS quality (grainy, etc.). The episodes should display in 4:3, but Handbrake seems to rip it in 16:9. I once managed to get a test run at 4:3, but cannot seem to replicate that.

I am new at all of this and would appreciate someone telling me the specific settings I should use in Handbrake.

Thank you! I will keep experimenting on my end.
