Hi all,
I'm new here, so I just wanted to start by saying how amazing MakeMKV is - a life saver
I used to rip my discs on a Liteon IHBS112-04. Sadly, it died a horrible death, and I replaced it with an LG WH14NS40.
The read rate on my LG WH14NS40 does not go past 8.6 M/s (2X) when I rip Blu ray discs. Every once in a while it drops to 0 or 0.5x, eventually climbing back up to 2X.
To my knowledge, the WH14NS40 is not riplocked (I could be wrong though)
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.
Slow read rate on an LG WH14NS40 - stuck at 2.0X
Re: Slow read rate on an LG WH14NS40 - stuck at 2.0X
I'm running two of these drives on two different machines, and both have shown 8x reads on BD disks, and 17X on DVDs. It may be system-specific; my results are on Dell computers running Win7, one of them 32-bit, the other 64-bit.
One of them is ripping a DVD as I write this, and showing over 10x speeds on the higher-numbered titles.
Edited to add: Read rate on a BD is up over 5x in rips running right now, with no firmware changes, so it is likely an interaction with your computer that is causing them to be lower.
