Hot Tub Time Machine backup won't play

#1 Post by bird333 » Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:50 pm

I made a decrypted backup and burned the backup to a blu-ray rewritable disc as a test. It played fine in VLC on my computer. However, when I put it in a real blu-ray player (Sony) it complains about the player needing an update. It's got BD+ 2010.5. Anyway to fix?

For a regular blu-ray player to work, one usually has to use imgburn to turn the MakeMKV backup into the proper filesystem (UDF 2.5) the player is expecting and then burn the resulting .ISO onto a disc.

Are you sure you really want to burn discs? It is rarely the right answer these days.

Yes. How do you do that? Other copies haven't done that on the player.

The backup is using UDF 2.5. Does anyone know what is happening here and how to fix it?
