I bought these two Blu-ray drives and I'm not sure which one should i choose. Both seem pretty good. I'm going to archive photos and videos to bd-r and rip movies. I heard that lg laser is weaker while pioneer is more reliable. Also lg with patched firmware is uhd friendly unlike pioneer.

The Pioneer is for sure the better burner. Depends if UHD is important to you. Most likely you should keep both. The LG for UHD ripping and the Pioneer for burning.

Keep both. I think the Pioneer will rip DVDs and Blu-rays, even if it won't rip UHDs. And it is the better burner.

In my experience, no one drive can rip everything. Having a second drive gives you a second chance to rip problematic discs. Also, MakeMKV can rip from both drives at the same time (select 'Ask for single drive mode' in preferences). Handy if your stack of discs to rip is big.
