Encanto (Walmart Ultimate Collector's Edition)

#1 Post by AzurePanda » Sun Mar 20, 2022 6:48 am

I've attempted to rip both the standard blu-ray and 4k UHD blu-ray copies that came with it. Neither disk will rip while both give the same combination of errors. I've included the log and if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated. I swear Disney put some kind of voodoo hex on this disk! I keep getting a weird debug error code as well as 'OS error - STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED' but only for these disks. I literally ripped other regular and 4k disks before and after (had to unplug and reconnect the drive after the error). So it's not the drive as far as I can tell. I have no idea what is going on.

Code: Select all

002003:0000 Error 'OS error - STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED' occurred while reading 'BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N 1.00 MO1L3VD2645' at offset '1376256'
A BU40N is almost assuredly powered by and connected to your computer via USB. Make sure both USB plugs are connected to high powered USB ports. MakeMKV can spin the drive fast enough that it consumes more power than a single USB port can provide. If it is connected to a USB hub, make sure the hub is powered with its own power brick.

I attempted again after plugging in both usb connectors which I have never had to do before. I didn't make it as far as before. While this time I didn't get the Error 'OS error - STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED' error it usually occurred later in the process than I made it this time. I'm still getting a recurring DEBUG: Code 3221225664 at jy`8q}68o"jrtS*\:121267362. It repeats over and over and over and over until I close the program. I attached the log from this attempt as well. I hope someone can figure this out. I don't understand why it is just this single movie giving me these issues.

That might mean the drive needs a cold reboot (unplug both USB cords, wait 10 seconds, then plug them both back in. Restart MakeMKV and try again). It might mean the disc has a bit of dirt on it. I'm not entirely sure. Hopefully @billycar11 will stop by; he knows quite a lot about the BU40N drive.

All good advice really the only few things left if that are already using both USB cables is to clean the disc and laser and buy a high powered USB hub try the free options first.
Also replacing the discs is an option I don't know how these are packaged but many black hawk down disks were doa because they were packed disc on top of disc

These weren't disc-on-disk in the packaging. I literally pulled the disks straight from sealed package to the drive, so they were pristine. I already used some air on the drive as well. As I said, every other disk I have, 4k and standard blu-ray, are scanning fine at this point (Only exception being the 4k of King's Man, but the standard worked fine). I'm guessing I'll have to replace the disks from a different retailer or something. I have no idea why this would make a difference since they both play fine. I have used a PS5 and a standalone blu-ray player to test both disks and they play flawlessly.
