Neon Genesis Evangelion

#1 Post by BanquosGhost » Sat Jan 15, 2022 5:06 pm

I'm getting

Code: Select all

The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
DEBUG: Code 0 at ZkNy'P[;AHR3{9Bw:29396092
DEBUG: Code 0 at ZkNy'P[;AHR3{9Bw:29394850
Failed to open disc
for all five disks of this release. I sent the .tgz files for them to svq@makemkv.com around this time last week, but I'm still unable to rip them. Have I done something wrong, or should I simply continue to wait and try again next week?

First, is this a UHD release, or regular BD? The BD versions should not need to download keys... At least, mine did not.

If they are UHDs, I'll move this topic to the correct forum.

Are you getting any errors when MakeMKV tries to get the latest key file? At the top of the UHD Disk forum, the UHD FAQ may have your answer.

I'm fairly sure it's regular BD. There's no mention of UHD on the case, and each disk is around 45-50 GB in size, if that helps pin it down.

I didn't see any errors when it tried to get the key file yesterday. I'm afraid I've lost that particular log now, but running just now gives me this in the log:

Code: Select all

Two things here that may be relevant:

1) I mounted the disks on a headless server, used cp to copy the contents to my hard disk, and I'm running this on the copy from a different machine with a GUI on it. I haven't tried working this way before, so I don't know if it's a valid thing to be doing.

2) My BD drive is rather old.

OK, the issue may be the AACS v76 on the disks, although the current version of MakeMKV is supposed to handle that, even with an older drive.

I'm stumped at this point. I'd suggest following the FAQ link in my signature and send the information requested to support@makemkv.com so that Mike can look at it. This is separate from the .tgz file, and it can help when it's a "structure" problem, rather than encryption.

Thanks for looking at it. I'm glad it's not something silly I've done wrong. :)

I've sent the requested data for one of the disks to the support address. I'm assuming that only one will be needed to work out what the problem is, but can send the other four if necessary.
