This is a solution to a lot of errors I've been having over a long period. The fix was inspired by reading may error reports in this forum.
I use an LG external USB Blu-Ray drive. It performs perfectly for ripping CDs and DVDs and a lot of Blu-Rays, but with some BR discs it fails half way through (possibly at a layer change...)
It has a USB lead that splits into two. One for data & power, the other for additional power. It seems that my PC is not able to supply enough power from just two USB sockets. So, I bought a USB Y lead allowing me to connect the drive to a total of three USB sockets.
Suddenly all the problems went away.
The problem of not enough power has been mentioned many times but I'm convinced that some people dismiss this answer. Don't!
All sorts of errors fixed
Re: All sorts of errors fixed
You mention the split lead has one for power, one for data. I assume the reason you choose not to use that lead for power and buy a 3-in-1 splitter instead is you don't have enough outlets?
