The Vanishing
The Vanishing
The movie creates the .mkv fine but there is no audio... what could be the problem? It plays fine on my blu-ray player.
Thanx!

Re: The Vanishing
There is software called MediaInfo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaInfo) that will tell you a lot about your media files. It will tell you what (if any) audio tracks are in your MKV file and what format they're in.
Try that and post the results here.

"What could be the problem?"
Player does not support the audio codec(s) included.
When ripping, your settings for language conflicted with what the source had available, so nothing was ripped.
Those are the top two "no audio" issues. There are a few hundred other possibilities. Without information like dcoke22 asked for, it's hard to narrow down.

Re: The Vanishing
Hi Thanx for your help, but I have been trying to find out how to adjust the audio settings for the codec in makemkv and can't see where to do that? Can Someone help point this out to me?
Re: The Vanishing
I downloaded and ran MediaInfo as you suggested. Its results gave these returns, I wish I could upload the jpg but it doesn't seem to work here: Anyway, They all seem to be AACS files. How do I set MakeMKVC to read these audio files?

It will familiarize you with how to change what is put in the MKV file. With expert mode, you can see what MakeMKV is doing more easily, and you can choose a profile that can convert audio codecs that your playback system does not know how to deal with.
Something that happens a lot is if you select a "preferred language" in your MakeMKV configuration; that will stop MakeMKV from including any other language by default. Some disks will not include audio for all the languages that are available as subtitles. This is separate from the interface language; you can choose to use, say, French or German for the interface, but it is better to leave the preference blank.

Re: The Vanishing
Using expert mode, you can simply select (check) the English audio. Why MakeMKV would grab "just" the Dutch I cannot say without more information.
Sometimes, audio tracks are mislabeled; I've seen disks where Chinese and Malay tracks were marked as "English".
While it is unlikely, your player might not understand LPCM audio. In which case, select the "aac-stereo" profile would allow the option of converting the LPCM to AAC.

Re: The Vanishing
Thank you all for your help! Expert mode was the insight I needed to load in order to view the audio files. Unfortunately, it looks like only the commentary is in English and the main video is in Dutch with English subtitles. I find this quite odd as I know this ran in US theaters in English

I assume we're talking about this movie: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Vani ... ay/229572/
There seems to be an English version and it is currently about $7 on Amazon.
