Forbidden Planet Blu-Ray Audio Problem

#1 Post by thespis421 » Sun Sep 06, 2020 1:37 pm

Hello,

I have been trying to use MakeMkv to rip a file of the movie Forbidden Planet from the Blu-ray edition. I have been able to rip all of the special features, deleted scenes, etc without issue, but what I really need is the actual film. Unfortunately, while I can rip the video portion successfully, the English audio does not come through, only the foreign audio tracks. I have tried turning off everything but the English tracks, and that did not work either. I can't find anything in the Help section that would explain this, unless I am looking in the wrong place. Does anyone have any advice? I appreciate your assistance.

If you play the file you ripped in VLC does anything appear for audio in the Tools menu > Codec Information? Normally Stream 0 will be the Video and Stream 1 will be the Audio. Perhaps it's just in a format your computer can't play without a codec installed..

pjarvi's suggestion is a good one. Also, what did the MakeMKV log say when you ripped the movie? You can turn on debug logging in MakeMKV (https://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/8). Also, you can use a utility called MediaInfo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaInfo) to learn all sorts of details about what is inside a MKV file.
