Avatar Extended playlists not recognized

Cannot rip the mkv from Avatar Extended Edition blu ray image since no playlists are recognized.

Can you run a windows or linux version in bootcamp or vmware and see if the same error occures? What happens if you try to make a disc backup with MakeMKV or copy files with finder?

I tried the same using Windows 7 and the result is the same. The Backup Disc button is not active on OS X. When I want to copy files with Finder, there are no issues. I can copy the BMDV folder.

I can confirm this also happens on Linux. If I rip the BDMV structure with AnyDVD then import the folder into MakeMKV I get the same errors.

Are you opening folder structure or ISO image? What happens if you open disc directly with latest SVQ? Please post full debug log, it should have error codes.

It was a folder structure created by AndDVD on Windows. I then tried it with both the Windows and Linux version of MakeMKV.

However the issue no longer matters as the latest svq allows the disc to be opened directly in MakeMKV and the errors no longer occur.

It does, AnyDVD did something to MPLS files so MakeMKV would fail. I would like to understand what exactly; please post or send the debug log.

I've already deleted the rip made with AnyDVD that caused the issue.

However I booted my Windows 7 box and tried running AnyDVD with MakeMKV on Avatar CE Disc 1 and the issue is gone, MakeMKV is now able to see the playlists with AnyDVD running.

A rip of the blu-ray from AnyDVD would exhibit the same behavior as running AnyDVD and then loading MakeMKV, would it not?

I have to go out for the day, if you need me to I can rip the disc again with AnyDVD and then import the folder structure into MakeMKV when I come home tonight. Let me know if you need me too.

I'm home now. I went ahead and ripped the disc with AnyDVD and tried to open it and it failed.

Opening disc with MakMKV while AnyDVD running = works
Opening Folder Structure made by AnyDVD with MakeMKV = failed.

I've emailed the log to support@makemkv.com

AnyDVD removes 4 null bytes from the end of the playlist - not quite sure why they should be expected there anyway (looks like the extension data length field, which shouldn't be required, as it's 0), need to investigate that.

Anyway - it should work, if you tell AnyDVD not to remove PUOs.

The purpose of this forum is beta testing MakeMKV - not finding alternative programs, nor finding why alternative programs do or don't work properly...

Nope, can't really find a reason.
Maybe mike can clarify.

The Avatar disc has superfluous extensiondata length fields for a missing extension data element (which seems to be a bug in some authoring tools (?)).
99% of all BDs don't have that field appended.
AnyDVD removes those - and sets the PUOs to 0. Those are the only differences. All players are happy with the result, I don't really see why MakeMKV chokes on those.

Please read fully before you puke all over me (as usual, whenever you read the word "AnyDVD").
It was noted that AnyDVD seems to change the playlist files in a way that gives MakeMKV trouble.
I was trying to assist in finding the reason. You're not really helping anyone.
