Mac freezes after each blu ray copied

Every time I copy a Blu-ray movie I tried to eject the movie using the icon in the window and it freezes my whole entire computer. It doesn't matter what Blu-ray I put in it does it for every single one. Currently I'm working on copying a set of X-Men Blu-ray movies. Each time it freezes I can't do anyting not even shut it down through using the Apple icon at the top of the screen. I've tried waiting to see if it will clear itself but the little wheel spins for hours before I have to press and hold the power button until it shuts down. I know that this isn't good for the computer but I don't know what else to do. My Mac system is: macOS Mojave version 10.14.6. I believe that's the most up to date. I have it set for auto updates.
