Hotel Transylvania 3 US retail BD from the UHD combo

I get 2 tracks:
359.mpls
segment map 1,354

360.mpls
segment map 1,355

Duration, chapters, size all equal. Both tracks are in english with english title cards. Flipping through, I didn't see any differences. Any of you have it?

I've seen some threads talk about adding Java, but not sure how to get that function into makemkv. Would that help in this instance?

Similar issue. I got the 4k UHD disk and there are 4 playlists.

249.mpls
336,337,339,340

250.mpls
336,337,339,341

251.mpls
336,338,339,340

252.mpls
336,338,339,341

on my disc 340 and 341 are the credits. 340 has text while 341 does not. This limits the correct playlist to 249 or 251, but i can not find 337 vs 338. My PC will not play UHD dics so I don't think i can use the OpenFilesViews trick.

EDIT
I found one other small difference at time code 4:25 one playlist (251.mpls) displays the text "A Monster Vacation" and one does not. When i watch the moviesanywhere digital version and when i played the disk in my UHD player that text did not show. I'm going with 249.mpls. No "A Monster Vacation" text at 4:25 and text on the credits.

This is what I get from DVDFab:

Code: Select all

Disc media: Blu-ray (BDMV)
Volume name: HOTEL_TRANSYLVANIA_3

Region Code is removed. (Region A, Region Mask 'A ')
AACS protection (AACSLA) is removed. (MKBv65)
BD+ protection not found.
BluPath: full disc copy/play is supported.
Main playlist: 00359.mpls
I'm going with this in MakeMKV:

Code: Select all

Name: Hotel Transylvania 3
Comment: FPL_MainFeature
Source file name: 00359.mpls
Duration: 1:37:23
Chapters count: 16
Size: 21.8 GB
Segment count: 2
Segment map: 1,354
File name: Hotel_Transylvania_3_t21.mkv

Redbox BR correct playlist is 00359. Uses 354 in the segment map for credits.

00360 uses 355 in the segment map for credits which has blanked out actor names (ex: at 0:38 in this segment t65, Adam Sandler is missing).

359 it is! I saw the lack of actor names in 360 that SickPup404 pointed out. Thanks!

I saw the same segment layout and can confirm that 337 is the segment that does not display the text "A Monster Vacation," so I concur that 249.mpls is the likeliest choice.

Now a bit of a rant - it's really a shame that we had a perfectly reasonable way of ascertaining the correct segment map using a legit purchased copy of PowerDVD and OpenedFilesView. I really didn't like giving CyberLink my money, but at least it was seemingly infallible. Of course, it's still no fun when the self-rightous ***** at Lionsgate put eleventy-billion segment maps on a single disc, but whatever, it's doable.

Unfortunately, the hardware requirements to play UHD disks on a PC are just artificially absurd. I shouldn't need a $300 video card or an overpriced processor with SGX (which has been hacked) to do what an $80 player does out of the box. So the question remains - how does one ascertain the correct segment map for identically-sized titles, with the same number of chapters, duration, etc, if you don't have PC playback capability?

It just baffles me that it's so difficult to do in software what a $30 WalMart Blu-Ray player has done for more than 10 years. Does DVDFab truly offer this capability? I'm hesitant to shell out $70 for the software if it's not a sure thing.
