I have a copy of Monsters University that plays fine on my computer using the same drive that I use to rip movies. When trying to rip it, it shows up with three large titles. I deselect all but the first title and start the rip. It stays on Analyzing seamless segments for a long time. Eventually it has 5 of these errors, "Error 'OS error - STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR' occurred while reading '\Device\CdRom0' at offset '196608'." Then a bunch of these, "Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/01032.m2ts' at offset '196608'"
I cleaned the disc, same problem.
A similar post on this forumhttp://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic ... ity#p39545 says it started working for them at version 1.8.8, but I have 1.9.10.
I've ripped many DVDs and Blu-rays in the past and this is the first one that hasn't worked.
I'd be happy to post a log file but I couldn't seem to find one.
Monsters University
Re: Monsters University
Monsters is a Disney disk, so the 3 titles are almost completely the same, differing only in the language displayed in the titles and credits.
The error you are getting comes from the drive itself, not from MakeMKV, so you need to resolve why the drive cannot read part of the disk. Being able to play the disk does not prove that there is no error, because the playback software generally ignores short gaps.
Does the LOCATION of the error move around at all between attempts to rip the disk? That is, if it reports an error at location 123446 one time, but the next time the error is at 123988 instead, it is possible that increasing the retry count (Preferences->IO) will help.
When you cleaned the disk, did you just dust it off, or did you clean it with a soft, damp cloth? Fingerprints can make disks unreadable without being very visible, and a dry cloth will just smear them around. If you use any soap to clean them, you must then clean the soap off, too.
