So, I used MakeMKV to make a .mkv file for The Hobbit and it seemed to work ok.
But when I converted that mkv file to m4v for playback on my ipad..i got a message saying it wasn't able to play it because the player "might not support the file type or codec used to compress the file".
I'm trying to figure out if the problem is with the mkv or the m4v file made using Handbrake.
Actually, are there any free, safe mkv players I can download to check if my .mkv file is fine?
I've been using Makemkv for a while now and haven't run into any problems until recently.
Thanks

How about posting the log from Handbrake so we can see what Handbrake did.
