why this happens - segments duplication

Post by bbebe »

Hello.
I encountered this issue while attempting to rip a disc.
When the physical disc was recognized, its capacity was about 45GB, but when I tried to recognize the playlist and rip it using makemkv, the total capacity exceeded 100GB.
Upon checking, I discovered that segments with the same number were duplicated in the segment maps of multiple videos.

(attached photos below)

What criteria determine how videos are segmented?
Also, is there any way to resolve these duplicates? I'm wondering if this is a defect in the Blu-ray itself.
If there are settings I can adjust to fix this, I'll actively implement them.

I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, so please understand if my questions seem a bit lacking.

It's usually a form of protection (playlist obsfucation) but can also be legit and for different regions/audio. Wait until you see a Lionsgate one! There can be hundreds of fake playlists!
Cheers :D
