Hello,
I purchased a regular (non 4K) Blu-Ray disc of Lone Survivor today and MakeMKV can rip all but the main movie title, which is 31.2GB and 20 tracks.
The disc seems to be in good physical condition (e.g. no scratches) however I cleaned it anyway and it still stops about halfway through the rip.
I have a brand-new Verbatim External Slimline KJAB 43888 BU40N and have flashed the firmware 1.03 to enable LibreDrive as per the instructions on this site. I have tried both the USB-A to USB-C cable that came with the drive and also tried a USB-C to USB-C cable that has worked on other rips but not this one.
This is the first blu-ray I have not been able to rip.
Please see attached screen shots.
Any advice on this?
Thank you,
Sieggs1

Re: Cannot rip Lone Survivor Blu-Ray disc...
Errors like that generally indicate that the drive is unable to correctly read a spot on the disc. The standard advice is to gently clean the disc and try again. I know you cleaned the disc already, but it can't hurt to try cleaning it again.
Personally, I clean discs with plenty of warm water and liquid dish soap. I like to dry them with a can of air.

Thank you for responding to my post.
I did clean the disc again as you suggested but it kept failing to read at just over halfway through the main title. I tried to use MakeMVK to do a backup but it again failed. Finally, I tried copying the .mt2s file of the main title directly from the Blu-ray disc to my hard drive and it failed at about the same spot. So it's not MakeMKV.
On closer inspection, there is a very faint visible ring near the outer edge of the Blu-Ray disc. It's difficult to see unless I put it in direct light. It looks as though the disc was either scratched inside a Blu-Ray drive or that it was some kind of production/manufacturing error. It's hard to see how it would have been scratched by mishandling. There doesn't seem to be any depth to it that I can feel.
Anyway, I guess I'll just have to do with the DVD version that came with the case. I bought it used for $7 at a local second-hand videogame/movie store. No refunds.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.
