Two computers, different copies, incompatible playback

I backed up a Blu-ray disc on a Windows 7 32-bit machine with an external optical drive and external hard drive, using MakeMKV 1.16.3. I was able to play the resulting copy of the video using Media Player Classic. Resulting directory structure:
AACS
BDMV
CERTIFICATE
discatt.dat


With the external hard drive connected to another computer running Windows 8.1 64-bit, I could not play the video. Playlist files would not play in Media Player Classic, and stream files would not play in VLC. I was able to copy the backup directory of the Blu-ray disc from the first external hard drive to another hard drive, so I do not think this was a problem with file/directory permissions. Eventually I copied the Blu-ray disc again on the Windows 8.1 machine, using Make MKV 1.16.3. The resulting directory structure:
BDMV
CERTIFICATE
MAKEMKV
AACS
CMAP
discattd.dat

Why did the two copies end up with different directory structures, and why was the first copy not playable on the second computer (but playable on the first computer)?

Well if these are uhd Blu-rays that gpu does not support playback of hvec/h.265 files
But if they are regular Blu-rays it should work

Playback of Blu-ray copies in general is not a problem on either computer.

I copied the BD on computer #1 and could play it on computer #1.
I could not play computer #1's copy on computer #2.
I copied the same BD on computer #2 and could play that copy on computer #2.
The two copies, on two separate hard drives, have different directory structures.

When you make a backup, there is an Options checkbox for "Decrypt video files"

When you make a backup without decryption, the backup structure should be as follows:

AACS
BDMV
CERTIFICATE
discatt.dat

When you make a backup WITH decryption, the backup structure should be as follows:

BDMV
CERTIFICATE
MAKEMKV
MAKEMKV/AACS
MAKEMKV/CMAP
MAKEMKV/discattd.dat

I see. I actually ran into this problem a few years ago. With a new installation, the default setting has "decrypt video files" unchecked. Any idea why that is the default setting?

Also, why would the non-decrypted copy be playable on computer #1 where the BD was copied? Why not on computer #2 as well?

we don't know your exact setup there are alot of possibility's but if i were to guess i would say pc 1 has aacs keys or makemkv integration to decrypt on the fly vs pc 2 dos not have that setup
