Grave of the Fireflies Blu-Ray

Post by HannibalRome »

I ripped the video just fine, however there is no sound to the video. I left the audio settings checked on the disk menu. Any idea what I did wrong?

Was this the Disney release, or the GKids release?

It says Sentai Filmworks. I don't see Disney or Gkids anywhere.

What are you playing it back in? Sentai likes to use DTS-HD audio on newer releases. and some players don't support it.

I was using an external DVD blu ray drive. That's probably the problem. Guess I wont be making a backup.

Do you have VLC on your computer? You can confirm whether or not the file actually has the audio tracks (hey, it might not!), and what their encoding is.

If VLC plays it with audio, you can open the information screen (Ctrl-I, open the Codec tab), which will list each track within the file.

I don't have the BD version of GotF, so I don't know the track layout on it, just what is typical for Sentai's other titles.
