Cannot Rip SKYLINE blu ray

I have a version labeled "rental" that I bought from a Blockbuster that was going out of business. Have successfully ripped others that also said "rental" but wanted to throw that out there in case it mattered.

Cannot get a bug report because makemkv hangs up and freezes. It says a file is corrupt or invalid at offset xxxxxxx attempting workaround.

The disc has no visible scratches or smudges and I have tried cleaning it. Any suggestions?

EDIT:I have figured out that I need to enable debugging, will post results when I get a chance.

I guess I am an idiot! I cannot open the debug file because it says it is in use. I have closed makemkv

EDIT: Closed a task in task manager and now can open file but it is a pile of run-on statements and over 5000 pages long.

GEEZ! I am mostly handy with computers but have no clue how to give you the file you need for troubleshooting????

If you can post a sampling of the messages being generated, it would help.

I keep Pledge furniture polish handy to deal with disks that others have handled. It cuts grease from fingerprints very well, and fills in minor scratches. Always use a SOFT COTTON CLOTH to wipe it down with, though...

Cleaned the disc with Pledge and still no-go.

There are hundreds of pages in my debug file of similar text.

Mike will have to look at the debug messages to determine what MakeMKV was trying at each of the work-around messages.

Please try making a full disc backup first, and see if any hashcheck errors show up.

Thanks Mike, I will try that. Have never tried a full backup, I'll see if I can figure out how to do that. Will post back after I get a chance to try.

Ok, The backup failed. Here is what the main screen shows. I am assuming I just need to toss the disc in the trash.

Try the clean-and-wax route before you give up... It's worked for me on a lot of "Used - good" disks I purchased through Amazon.

And there's always polishing - If you don't have access to proper equipment, I've used tooth paste to polish out disks well enough to rip them once. After that, they go into storage, with a "fresh, minty smell".
