Killer Joe fails to rip

Post by DJRumpy »

I suspect this may be bad media although I can't see any defects.

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:NO SEEK COMPLETE' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00800.m2ts' at offset '10919276544'
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:NO SEEK COMPLETE' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00800.m2ts' at offset '10919276544'
Failed to save title 0 to file /Users/User/Movies/_Rips/Killer Joe/Killer_Joe_t00.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed

Consistently getting this, and at different offsets each time. This is the part that is confusing since it seems if it was defective media, it would most likely report the same offsets each time.

Any suggestions?

It can also be a failing drive - the operating system tells it to move the laser somewhere, and the data it reads when it gets there doesn't match what is expected.

Have you cleaned the DRIVE recently?

Not recently. I can test it on another Blu-Ray to see if I get any odd results on a known good disk.

Based on the shifting read-problem locations, I'd put my money on a dirty or failing drive...

Oddly enough, I ripped two other Blu-Ray discs without issue. Only this one caused an issue. I had a friend who had the same disc and tried his copy and had the same thing happen again (again with different sector failures each time).

The drive works fine on other discs. It was just an issue with this one disc.

Very bizarre.
