Rip-error at offset "X", ISO

Post by albertooo »

I am at the tipping point of frustration:

I am in the process of mkv-ing an entire tv show to my NAS, however a few (2 so far) disks have been nothing but problematic.

With these two disks I always get errors like "The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/00003.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 12288, attempting to work around".

I cleaned the disks - no luck. I tried the other disks - no issues. Therefore I don't suspect the drive to be the issue, rather the disk(s) itself.

After reading through everything I could find here and on reddit, this is what I tried:

Creating an .iso-file of the disk and trying to decrypt it with MakeMKV and makemkvcon - no luck, I run into just the same issues as mentioned above.

I also added the io_IgnoreReadErrors = "1" to the .config-file found under Library/MakeMKV - no luck what so ever.

This is where I have to turn to you guys and ask you for your help: did I do anything wrong, is there anything else I can do or do I just need to accept the disk to be damaged to an extend, that makes it impossible to use MakeMKV?

Thanks in advance!!!

Sometimes the discs need a really thorough clean using soapy water.

You could also try creating a decrypted backup to folder in MakeMKV. If that works, you can then use that decrypted folder to create the MKV file.
Cheers :D
