What can I do if a disc is not recognized

Post by BentiGorlich »

Hello everyone :)

I have a few bluray discs in my collection that just won't be recognized as BluRay discs or any disc at all, yet they are working fine in the BluRay player I have by my TV. Not all of them are very recent releases, but a few of them are. The ones that come to mind right now are:
  • Shutter Island
  • Kong Skull Island
  • Flow
Is there anything to be done about it? I tried cleaning them, I restarted my PC, I reconnected the drive - same result. Some discs take a long while with the drive spinning up to speed at first, some fail relatively quickly. I have nothing in the debug log that sounds like anything at all, only 2 messages like this (were for Kong I think):

Code: Select all

001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at [$&!cPHsNoNC,vJT%<05$ :29393631
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at [$&!cPHsNoNC,vJT%<05$ :29393631
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 100864261 at ]&o3!%rA'3D+VNk8:121271617
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 100864261 at ]8xy{6vW2\KI*(yD:213130559
I am running:
MakeMKV v1.18.2 linux(x64-release) (from Flathub)
Fedora 42
Pioneer Verbatim 4k BluRay drive
