is it Error with external drive or DNS for encryption

Post by JiminyCricket »

Hello all,
I have recently started using Make MKV and im having issues with AACS. Im assuming due to LibreDrive not being supported the drive is the issue or have seen that DNS being blocked by ISP is issue which im unsure how to resolve. Have scoured the forms but am unsure which if either is the issue. The drive plays blue rays on VLC if that matters at all. Posting my drive info and info for blue rays iv tested.

MakeMKV V1.17.5 [linux(x64-release)]

a bunch of times then

Code: Select all

Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Downloading latest HK to /home/jimbo/.MakeMKV ...
Saved AACS dump file as /home/jimbo/.MakeMKV/MKB_v63_Revolt_A554.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
It's basically saying that the file "MKB_v63_Revolt_A554.tgz" needs to be sent to svq@makemkv.com to be used to create the decryption key for that disk. You're able to download the keys (no error for that part), but no key is currently listed for that disk.

If it is a regular blu-ray, not a UHD, then you should not need to send the dump file to MakeMKV.

All of my drives are LibreDrive, so I don't have much experience in this scenario. However, in general, I think MakeMKV should work with regular blu-rays even with drives that don't support LibreDrive. I think YMMV with specific discs and specific drives however.

yeah this is strange thats a standard Blu-ray and it aacs 63 and makemkv supports that i think we are in the 70s now not sure
only think i can think of is makemkv cant fully talk to the drive is it in a docker or something try installing it natively no sandboxing that way

It is all blu-rays (don't own any UHD's as of yet) that give me errors similar to this have tested about 15. But did email the revolt file just in case.
another example being Alice in Wonderland(Johnny Depp).

Code: Select all

Disc Information
Label: ALICEINWONDERLAND
Timestamp: 2010-03-26 15:32:34
Protection: AACS v16
Data capacity: 34.9 Gb
Disc type: BD-ROM
Number of layers: 2
Channel bit length: 74,5 nm (25.0 GB max. per layer)

Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT ESTABLISHED' occurred while issuing SCSI command AD010..080002400 to device 'SG:dev_21:1'
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
DEBUG: Code 0 at RwN">DdY;aLEqG`l:213132721
DEBUG: Code 0 at RwN">DdY;aLEqG`l:213131341
Failed to open disc
I am on Linux MX Kernel 5.10.0-26 if that matters and no the drive is not running through docker which I am assuming running naively as it is directly connected into my computer.

Update:

I have purchased a new LG Electronics BP60NB10 4k blu ray drive and upon trying to open the bluray disks it continues to feed same errors and AACS dump file. any other ideas would be greatly welcomed. have post specs below.

Code: Select all

Highest AACS version: 63

LibreDrive Information

Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
