Ice Age The Meltdown BD

Post by daveydave5150 »

Hey guys, I'm having trouble ripping this one. There's only 1 title, but towards the end of the rip I'm getting SCSI errors of some sort. I've not had this issue with other BDs. Anyone know what's happening? Thanks!

Converting your request to a car analogy:
A light flashes on the dash of my car. What's wrong and how do I fix it?
What is the SCSI error? Most are errors generated by the drive when it cannot read the disk, but we can't be sure if we don't know what it says.

Hahaha yeah sorry I'd closed the window already. I re-ran the rip and it goes for a while, but then I can hear the drive definitely re-reading a certain area. Here's what it's spitting out:

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00001.m2ts' at offset '10919866368'

I suppose this disk could be bad. I just cleaned it well and made sure it wasn't scratched though. I didn't know if anyone had ever ran up against this on this movie before (nothing came up in search though so I'm guessing not).

It does not mean that the disk is bad, just that it has a problem right now.

MOST errors like this are simply dirty disks - BD is particularly sensitive to fingerprints and dirt. Cleaning the disk with a soft cloth helps a lot. I also use Pledge furniture polish when I do it, because the solvent (water!) in it cleans without damaging the surface, and the wax can fill in small scratches that confuse the laser.

I'll give Pledge a shot and see if that does the trick. Thanks!
