Old drive or something else?

Post by pecck »

I dug up an old external drive and tried to use it both on my iMac running OSX 10.9 and also using Windows 7 via Parallels. The error I'm getting on multiple BluRays is:

Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID FIELD IN CDB' occurred while issuing SCSI command 460200100..00100 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'

The external drive in question is the Asus SBC-06D1S-U A201

I'm using the latest MakeMKV BETA v1.8.7

I don't have a PC to test this, I'll try and bring it into the office with me tomorrow to give it a go on a real PC.

In the mean time, if anyone has some helpful info I would be greatly appreciative.

If this is the only failure, then it is harmless.

Maybe I should have said that not only do I have that error but MakeMKV doesn't register I have a BD disc in the drive, and I tried three discs. Do the two not have anything to do with another?

I've tried it now here at the office running win7. None of the BD dics are recognized, I tried a CD just to see if the drive is broken and it worked normally. Has the format/technology of the BD dics changed over the years? I ask this because the external BD drive in question is from 2010.
