The error literally means the drive can't read the disc.

This is not a copy protection issue. There is no copy protection that can cause this.

There are 2 possibilities:
1. The disc is damaged, dirty, or poorly manufactured.
2. Your drive is failing.

Option 1 is much more likely, return it and get a new disc.

I have used MakeMKV on over 150 BluRays with no problems ever until this one. This disk is in PERFECT condition and played fine in our BluRay player (so, yay we can still watch it, but boo, we can't access it from our PLEX server as it won't rip).

Here is the report:

Using MakeMKV 1.8.4 for Windows 64-bit. Yes this is also the "Extended Cut" as the original poster (crowfax) said to have problems with as well.

I have the same problem with this DVD.
I can also play the dvd and there is no visible damage.
it seems like chapter 11 is the problem if i skip it manually it works but of course the chapter is missing.

I found with this DVD (Stargate Ultimate Edition Extended Cut) that I couldn't even begin a rip when selecting the first sound entry. Turning it off and the disc ripped fine.

I have the issue with the Blu-ray and my new Pioneer X13UBK drive. The disc opens, and anything else on the disc will rip, or back up, but the main movie will not rip, nor will it play in this drive using MacGo Blu-ray Player Pro on the Mac. What's odd is, the LG BP50NB40 drive that just died that got replaced with the pioneer could rip the movie fine, as I had done it before the Plex crash. Redoing movies is how I've found issues with this disc.

I did the disc in my stand alone player which is a Panasonic, and the disc played, so it's not completely dead.

I've been trying to get the LG drive to at least do this disc as well, but it seems completely dead as in it doesn't want to connect to any computer and reliably read discs. I've also looked on amazon and can't find a new copy sold direct from amazon and third party sellers I try to avoid for movies in case they aren't selling legal copies. Since player software doesn't like the disc in this drive, it's not apparently a MakeMKV specific issue either.

Should I buy another LG drive just for this disc, or is there a better solution.

Thanks.

Just coming back to post that After getting a new LG drive to go with the Pioneer drive I got. I was able to re-rip Stargate extended cut blu-ray without issues. Seems like certain drives (such as the pioneer drive) don't like that disc. However, the new LG is model WP50NB40, read and ripped the disc just fine as did the BP50NB40 before it, that died after 4-5 years of use.
