Hobo with a Shotgun - unknown volume key
Brand new commercial Blu-ray released this week. MakeMKV says that disc cannot be decrypted because volume key is unknown. Log attached. Any help appreciated.

I have had the same problem. I also tried the latest version 1.6.12 and still no luck.

Sounds like this is already being worked on, but I can report having the same issue here. Any time frame for a fix?

Re: Hobo with a Shotgun - unknown volume key
This is a disc mastering error combined with a bug in MakeMKV. Here is the workaround:
- Make a full disc backup per instructions at http://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/4/catid/4 . Make sure to uncheck "decrypt video files" option.
- Navigate to directory with backup and rename "AACS" directory to "TMP"
- Open produced backup directory in MakeMKV - it should open without any errors.

Worked perfectly for me (using v1.6.12 under Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) - thanks!mike admin wrote:This is a disc mastering error combined with a bug in MakeMKV. Here is the workaround:

Re: Hobo with a Shotgun - unknown volume key
Thanks for your recommendation mike admin (and wtffilm for creating this topic) but unlike wtffilm I continue to receive the 'The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted' error message when taking the 'full disc backup' approach.
I have attached my debug log file for your reference. Any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Code: Select all
Make sure to uncheck "decrypt video files" option.
