Identifying Episodes of Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead

Post by thejm »

Hey guys,

I have ripped hundreds of blu-ray disks and have not found a good solution to this issue so I thought I'd post here to get the advice of people who are a lot smarter than I am!

I recently bought and ripped all seasons of Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead. When they are ripped the files are titled something like 'Braking Bad Season 1 Disk 1 Title01' and there are usually 3 to 6 episodes per disk. In my experience, the episodes are not usually in the correct order (i.e. title 01 being episode 1, title02 being episode 2, etc.). To date, my strategy for naming these has been to borrow a friend's Netflix login for a few days, go to a certain point in the episode just past the intro, watch 10 seconds, and find that same 10 seconds in the same timestamp of the ripped files. By doing this, I can usually do an episode every 3 minutes or so but with hundreds of them, it's very slow. I do use RenameMyTVShow to make the names clean but I need to do the first step to put the files in the correct order.

Is there an easier way to identify the order of the episodes to make renaming easier?

Your helps and thoughts are appreciated!

Shows like Breaking Bad, where each episode isn't exactly the same length, can relatively easily be figured out using DVDCompare.net (https://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=20264)

Furthermore, if you take a moment to type or copy&paste the names into MakeMKV, the files produced will be correctly named and the metadata in the .mkv will reflect the correct name as well.
