How to Playback Blu-Rays?

Post by papillon121 »

Hi,

i have tried to playback Blu-Rays from my PC, but it doesent work. The Disc loads but no Playback.

Ive tried 2 different PCs, two different Blu-Ray Player (VERBATIM 43890 and Asus BC-12D2HT) and 2 different Software (VLC and MPV).

i do need the MPV Player to Playback cause of the dynamic tone mapping (cause home cinema).

Do anyone of you guys got an diea what i made wrong? This are normal Blu-Ray Discs, no UHD or something like this.

Makemkv- preferences - integration - enable it for your program.

I've never successfully played a disc with MPV, although I have with VLC.

I'm pretty sure @Billycar11 is right… disc playback only works with a payed-for version of MakeMKV.

Out of curiosity, are you trying to playback a regular blu-ray or a 4K UHD blu-ray that has HDR or perhaps Dolby Vision?

Then why does it have to be MPV? In your first post you said dynamic tone mapping, but I'm only aware of that being import for things with HDR or Dolby Vision and I'm only aware of that being on UHDs. Do you have a regular blu-ray with something like that? Maybe it is something else MPV does that VLC does not?

I got a Homecinema and ive tested VLC VS MPV, in an german forum we created a perfect setting with dynamic tonemapping for MPV. But, by the way, VLC doesent work too...

Your theater is dope! Remember all those media players like VLC won't play until you first get AACS figured out and obtain keys
