Out of curiosity, where is the location of the SVQ files on the Mac if I ever need to download and install manually?

On my Mac, they are automatically stored the "MakeMKV data directory" I specified in the MakeMKV preferences window under the "General" tab. I assume the setting for people who do not change this location would be the "Movies" default folder.

/Users/<username>/.MakeMKV is the default, AFAIK.

Hi,

Having an issue with this disc. I am running the Win x86 version of MakeMKV, v1.8.0, registered, on XP. I always allow MakeMKV to connect to the internet to download the latest SVQs. I have included the MKB, LOG and dump files in a RAR that I will be sending to you via sendspace. Please let me know if there's anymore information I can send you to assist with troubleshooting.

I've emailed you the file via sendspace to svq@makemkv.com. If you didn't receive it, let me know and I will send you the direct link. In the RAR I have included the log, MKB and dump files. One additional note, the disc seems like it opens, as after the decryption process I do see "operation successfully completed" in the log. However from that point the application hangs for about a minute, until I get the "Fatal Error Occured, Program will now Exit" popup, which kills the app.

I have set the memory under IO to the lowest setting instead of auto based on some other feedback I saw on this forum as well.

I resolved this, turns out the issue is a strange one. I was able to get this rip working by connecting to a Citrix Access Gateway. Why would a CAG connection affect how MakeMKV works? I'm stumped. All I can think is that my PC user has a domain associated with Citrix, but I don't understand how that would affect the way a random application works.

I'm wondering if I logged out and logged back in with a second user I set up w/ admin priveleges and a local login (machine name, rather than domain) would get things working without the need of a CAG connection.

Sure enough when I logged in with my local admin account and tried to open the disc, it worked fine. Not sure why that would/should matter, but the issue is resolved.

00800 is usually a safe bet, unless playlist obfuscation is used (but in the latter case 00800 is often unavailable, AFAIK).

Option #1 (Source file name: 00800.mpls) shows a segment mapping of 800, 802, 804
Option #2 (Source file name: 00802.mpls) shows a segment mapping of 800, 803, 804

How could I know for sure, other than watching the movie back to back, which is the correct Source file

With a relatively simple playlist like that, you can back up the disc(assuming you have the space), and play the middle file(or which ever one is different) and figure out what's what.

I am also having the same issue with this disk. I'm in the process of backing up both files, but it seems that it'll be difficult to determine which one is the actual movie unless I watch both of them. Does anyone know a better way to determine which title actually gets played by a bluray player?

Ok, just in case anyone cares, I figured out the difference between Title 2 and Title 5. In Title 2, there are burned-in English subtitles around minute 13 (and possibly elsewhere in the movie) that are not present in Title 5. So if you rip the English version of the movie, you should use Title 2.

I can confirm what was said above, the difference is one has forced English subtitles turned on and one doesn't.

I have the same problem, but I do not see the burned in subtitles. Strange. I have the two titles as posted before:

The only difference is 00802.m2ts vs 00803.m2ts. So I created a backup of the Blu-Ray and opend those two files and they are completely the same. I mean they differ in size, but I do not see a difference in the movie itself?!

You said the difference is visible at around minute 13, but as both use the 35:42 minute long file named 00800.m2ts it does not make really sense for me?!

The difference is the map at 35:45. The 802 segment shows "Sea of Japan" while 803 does not.

Apologies for digging up an old thread. I'm currently ripping this title and noticed something interesting when identifying what MPLS title to grab. Sharing in case it helps anyone besides myself in the future.

Using procmon to filter on a paths containing 'MPLS', it shows \BDMV\PLAYLIST\00801.mpls being accessed while playing the film in VLC in English 7.1.

I then noticed MakeMKV did not show a 00801.mpls file to grab. I only saw 800 and 802, each 28 chapters and a 2:06:59 runtime. I went back through the log while MakeMKV was opening the disc and noticed when it read 801 it determined it was identical to 800, so it was skipped. Looks like I'll grab 800 as others here did.
