Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
Version 1.14.2 was just released, and it seems to have fixed the issue. I just tried Season 1 Disc 1, and all extras ripped without errors. I don't have time to do the other discs at the moment, but I wanted to give everyone following this thread an update.
Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
It WILL process the extras without any DEBUG errors, yay!! THANK YOU MAKEMKV. I've only checked the S1 D1 by the way.
However, the .mkv files are unplayable in VLC and make the software stick and crash a minute or more later. I've tried rebooting to no avail. I did manage to get the Blu-ray playing software on my mac to read the .mkv files just fine though and they DO play perfectly. I'm hoping that I can MKVtoolnix them into submission but I'm not terribly hopeful, I may just have to Handbrake them...
@eromin did you actually check the 'playability' of the .mkv files created? and if so, in what player?
Titles 13-19 all ripped fine as you suggested BUT for others following this strand do beware that something about these extras still throws VLC and possibly other video playing apps for a loop - I suppose we can now blame Mill Creek for the funky original encoding as I assume that MakeMKV at this point has done its work.
Thanks Mike!

Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
Okay, so again I believe MakeMKV has done it's due diligence and thus this message should probably be the last to take up space here on the MakeMKV forum but in the event that someone finds it's odd and possibly helpful elsewhere here tis.
I dropped the funky 'extra' .mkv's into MKVtoolnix and got another unplayable file. Here's the MediaInfo before/after (from MakeMKV extraction/repackage to post-MKVtoolnix repackaging)

Any further thoughts anyone? Biggest differences I notice are file size (thought NO conversion of any kind was done), original frame rate 60fps?!?!, then some kind of "SegmentSizeIsZero" and "IsTruncated" display.... Bizarre. Next stop, Handbrake.

Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
Yes, I did test playability of all titles from S1 D1. They played with VLC on both my Windows 7 (VLC 3.0.3) and macOS 10.12.6 (VLC 2.2.6) machines with no issues. I've also tested them in Plex Media Player on Windows 7 and via the web client. I should have mentioned that in my last post. They're only standard def, so they don't look great, but they play.
Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
Looks like re-encoding them in Handbrake post-MakeMKV rip is a must for maximum compatibility on Mac VLC and Plex for Mac, works like a charm now!
Thanks again Mike & eromin!

Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
I wonder what's going on with your files compared to mine. I didn't have to do anything with MKVToolNix or Handbrake to get mine to play. Glad you got them working.
Re: Community Blu-ray EXTRAS (DBG ASSERT errors)
No. Like eromin, I rip the BDs 'straight' with no conversions.
UPDATE: I was able to use ver. 1.14.2 today on Win 8.1 to successfully "rip" from the decrypted/backup BD filesystem of the LPCM-only BD that would hang 1.12.3.
Perhaps I can try doing the same with the 5.1 containing BDs (I think I just received 1-2 more), in a few days.
(Unfortunately, I can't run 1.14.2 on my main PC with LinuxMint 17 since it gives "Application failed to initialize." But I won't complain about that since my Linux is a bit outdated.)
P.S. - Gee, I guess I spaced out and forgot about replying to this thread in Nov
