The drive is having issues reading the disk. However, it may be because of power issues - the fact that the drive was inaccessible for a short time after the first error often means the drive was resetting.

Two ways to approach this - first is to make sure the disk is clean.

The second is to make sure the drive has full power available to it. If you are NOT plugging it into the computer directly, make sure the hub you plug it into has its own power. If it is plugged into a laptop, make sure the laptop is plugged in and charging.

Mike has mentioned someday adding a "speed limiter" to work around this issue, but he hasn't said anything recently about adding that feature...
