Wrong default playlist on Zombieland

#1 Post by cyborg » Sat Dec 13, 2014 11:04 am

When I open the German Zombieland Bluray, MakeMKV chooses the wrong default playlist. The correct playlist with 16 chapters is 00001.mpls. But MakeMKV choses 00002.mpls (with 23 chapters). It states "Title 00001.mpls is equal to title 00002.mpls and was skipped", although they are not equal.

Is there any way to force converting playlist 00001.mpls?

Yes, Mike added a "Manual mode" in 1.9.0 and later. This topic has an example of how it works:

This topic has an example of how it works:
The example is
. Please do the following - enable expert mode in preferences, then check "open DVD in manual mode" mark. Press the big button, and when MakeMKV asks you for "manual string" enter the number 19 .
But I don't see "open DVD in manual mode" anywhere. And what is "the big button"?

And why does MakeMKV state 00001.mpls is equal to 00002.mpls althoug they are not equal?

You ask a good question, which I had to go search for, since I haven't had this happen to me recently.

However...

Version 1.9.0 is required for this to work. When the disk is first loaded with Expert mode enabled, you will see a big "DVD" or "Bluray" picture on the screen, which is the normal "Open this disk" button.

ABOVE that, you will see a summary of the disk, listing the type disk, label on the disk, protection type, and (now) "Open DVD manually" next to a check box. Check the check box, then click on the "Open this disk" button.

After a scan of the disk, you will get the "Open DVD in manual mode" box, with a text entry box for the "manual string".

In this case, you probably would enter "1", although it might be "0001". More information is available at http://www.makemkv.com/manualdvd/ , and you can experiment with it... it's not like it will cause the world to stop spinning if you get the wrong string! ;)

I've never tried this feature as of yet, but my guess is there's a reason it's called "open DVD in manual mode".

ABOVE that, you will see a summary of the disk, listing the type disk, label on the disk, protection type, and (now) "Open DVD manually" next to a check box.
That checkbox "Open DVD manually" is missing, although expert mode is enabled and although I am using 1.9.0.

So is there no chance to rip this disk successfully with MakeMKV?

Well, no chance without Mike's intervention... If the manual open doesn't show up.
