Very interesting. My copy has exactly the same barcode and all data for the title matches yours except for the segment map. Mine (for 00707.mpls) is:

There are a couple of pairs that are swapped relative to yours. Quite curious.

Newest in that it's the first time you've encountered it - it's been around for over a year, on other titles. Ender's Game was the first I encountered it, but it was "old" when EG came out.

The tool mentioned, Process Monitor, isn't needed, because the Resource Monitor that comes with Windows is adequate.

Thanks, Woodstock. That's a clever method. I'll have to investigate to see if there's a Mac trick to accomplish the same thing. I've probably just got to set up a little bash shell to do it.

The "Process Monitor" or "Resource Monitor" step that lists open files on a Windows box can be replaced with this command on Unix/Mac systems:

lsof | grep -i mpls

That's "LiSt Open Files" and then filtered to only show things that contain MPLS (case-insensitive).

You can add additional filters to get less output, if you find the original overwhelming. For example, this would only list open MPLS files on a disk name "foo":

lsof | grep -i mpls | grep /Volumes/foo

Note that lsof is a snapshot tool -- it lists the open files at the moment it was run (though it can take several seconds to return). So unlike the Windows version where you want to setup the capture first and then review the logs, with this version you want to be playing first and then run the command.

I personally don't have any commercial Blu-ray software for Mac, or I'd try it myself. Anyone have recommendations?

EDIT: I tried the Macgo BR player; it does not access the disk via the filesystem (you can unmount it will the disk is playing), so it's not possible to use this method to determine which files it accesses.
