Issues with ST TNG Blu Ray and 1.810

With Version 1.810 titles from the ST TNG Blu Ray seasons will not save. Version 1.89 works fine. I believe the error happens right at the end of the title when there is another segment added to the end of each title. In version 1.810 I get debug codes and the file is not saved. In 1.89 I get AV sync messages, but the title is saved.

Season 4. First three I ripped with 1.89. I upgraded to 1.810 before I started ripping season 4. I have gone back to 1.89 and season 4 is ripping just fine.

I converted up to series 4 on my first attempt, series 3 on my second and I guess I'll make my third attempt some time soon. Hopefully some time before series 7 is released I'll have the process down pat so I can finally watch the bloody thing after 20 something years (it was screened after midnight here in Australia, I missed at least one entire season and quite a few episodes for various reasons... it was my favourite show too before it was challenged by Buffy and probably still is!)

I have the same problem with discs from Season 5. But going back to 1.8.9 does not help. Even tried older version, same result, always: ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - AUTHENTICATION FAILURE or MEDIUM ERROR:UNRECOVERED READ ERROR.

Guess they have changed the encryption mechanism and we need to wait for 1.8.11 to fix it?

If there is a change in encryption, USUALLY there will be a link within the debugging window to forward information to Mike that will help overcome it.

No, I did not see such a link in 1.8.9 or 1.8.10. I tried 1.8.5 (which I happened to have on disk) when I saw this link. Seems to be something else then...

This is a confirmed bug in 1.8.10 . The workaround is to use 1.8.9 (or if it fails to decrypt then make a decrypted full disc backup with 1.8.10 and use 1.8.9 to produce MKV file fro, backup).

Hi, unfortunately the errors regarding the copy protection persist. When I try to create backup of the disk and later decrypt I get

The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

So, version 1.8.11 doesn't seem to fix the issue. Version 1.8.8 or 1.8.9 or 1.8.10 neither. Error message is

These errors occur before you get to the key exchange process:

Key exchange is the least of your worries right now; the drive thinks the disk isn't readable.

This is strange - the drive worked like a charm on discs from season 1-4. Is this related to the drive being faulty?

If the errors are limited to certain disks, it is probably not the drive. That is, if you put one of the season 1 disks in and it reads it just fine, the drive is probably OK.

But that would point to the disks themselves having a problem. Hopefully, Mike can get information from the debug messages to figure this out.

Well, ok - I guess it's related to the disks then. The problems started with Season 5. I don't have the discs of Season 1-4 anymore, so I cannot test

But my gut feeling says they introduced a new encryption mechanism.
